Job Title: Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) – Plastic Surgery Practice
Location: Beverly Hills, CA
Reports To: Lead Surgeon / Practice Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated, highly skilled Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic team, specializing in plastic and reconstructive surgery. This role involves assisting in surgical procedures, preparing patients for surgery, providing post-operative care, performing in-office procedures, and supporting the surgeon as needed. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical skills, excellent patient care, and a passion for working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surgical Assistance:
- Assist the surgeon in performing various plastic and reconstructive surgeries, both in the operating room and in minor office-based procedures.
- Provide direct support during surgery, including handling instruments, suturing, and monitoring patient status.
- Prepare the surgical field, ensure proper sterilization, and manage surgical tools.
- Preoperative Care:
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical history, physical examination, and assessment of surgical candidacy.
- Educate patients on preoperative instructions, including medication management, fasting, and any necessary lifestyle modifications.
- Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure all necessary preoperative tests and imaging are completed in a timely manner.
- Postoperative Care:
- Provide follow-up care for surgical patients, including managing incisions, addressing complications, and ensuring proper healing.
- Educate patients on postoperative care, pain management, and signs of infection or complications.
- Monitor patient progress and report any concerns to the surgeon.
- In-Office Procedures:
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during in-office procedures, providing clear explanations of each treatment.
- Patient Education & Support:
- Offer guidance and support to patients throughout the surgical process, from consultation to post-procedure care.
- Address patient questions, concerns, and provide a compassionate, empathetic approach to patient care.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the surgical team, including nurses, assistants, and administrative staff, to ensure smooth workflow and optimal patient care.
- Assist with managing patient schedules, maintaining medical records, and coordinating follow-up appointments.
- Administrative & Miscellaneous Duties:
- Maintain accurate patient documentation, including surgical notes, medical records, and post-operative instructions.
- Assist with maintaining inventory and ordering supplies for in-office procedures.
- Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the surgeon to support the practice.
Qualifications
- Licensing/Certification:
- Active license in CA
- Current CPR and BLS certification (Advanced certifications preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of [3] years of experience as a PA, preferably in plastic surgery or a related field.
- Proficient in assisting with surgical procedures, patient assessments, and postoperative care.
- Experience with in-office procedures (cosmetic/dermatology) is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, surgical techniques, and patient care in the plastic surgery field.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to educate and support patients.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of multitasking in a busy environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a collaborative team setting.
